Iron Keep Fitness in Portland, OR

About Iron Keep

Iron Keep Fitness was built on a simple idea: life should be an adventure, and you are the hero of your own story. We’re a community of people leveling up, in the gym and everywhere else — and doing it alongside each other rather than alone. Adventurers of all backgrounds are welcome here.

Welcome to the Keep.

Fourteen years on the same floor

This gym opened in January 2012 as Mt. Tabor CrossFit. In July 2026 it changed hands, and with new ownership came a new name, but the same building, the same coaches, and a lot of the same people who walked in that first year and never left.

The name changed because we wanted one that says what we actually are: a place people come back to. A keep is somewhere you’re defended and somewhere you belong. That’s the gym we’re trying to run.

Why we do this

Most people don’t fail at fitness because the program was wrong. They fail because they were doing it alone, and nobody noticed when they stopped showing up.

We think people need a community that expects them to grow — that notices when you’re gone, celebrates when you finally get the lift, and doesn’t let you talk yourself out of coming back. That’s harder to build than a workout, and it’s the whole point of this place.

You will not be the only person here who’s nervous. A coach runs every class from start to finish, you’re never handed a workout and left to figure it out. Every movement scales, so the person next to you might be lifting twice your weight and you’re both doing the workout exactly right.

Most of our members had never done this before they walked in. Nobody here is watching you. They’re busy with their own bar.

Meet the coaches

Our dedicated team of experienced coaches is the heart and soul of our gym. Each coach brings their own unique skill set, background, and enthusiasm to help you master new techniques, overcome obstacles, and reach new heights in your fitness journey.

FAQ

Questions before your first intro?

Here are a few quick answers about onboarding, scaling, and what it feels like to train at Iron Keep.

  • What is the free intro?

A 45-minute conversation with a coach. No workout, no commitment, and no pressure - just a chance to ask questions and see if the gym is a fit.
  • Do I need CrossFit experience?

No. Most members start with zero experience. Free Intro and Forge Foundations are built to make the first step simple.
  • How do classes work?

Every class is coached start to finish. The same workout is scaled for your ability, and coaches help you move well at your pace.
  • Can I start if I am nervous?

Absolutely. That is exactly who the coached onboarding path is for. We help you build confidence before you ever need to keep up with a group.
  • What makes Iron Keep different?

A no-ego community, a clear beginner path, and coaches who know your goals, your name, and how to keep training sustainable.
Gather. Grind. Glory.
